"I didn't know he was a crazy old wizard!" Nick clenched his teeth tightly and forced himself to breathe deeply, to suppress the almost violent shivers wracking his frame.

"Oh, because you have so much experience with wizards," Monroe replied sharply, but despite the bite of his words, his grip on Nick never wavered.

Nick didn't answer. He was too busy not doubling over with pain to even listen to Monroe's words, Monroe noticed, a hint of panic starting to creep into his thoughts. Nick was a Grimm, and no matter what he himself might have thought about his methods and the way he dealt with creatures, so different from the fairytales, so different from the other Grimms, he still should have the abilities of a Grimm and the resistance to this kind of magic.

"What did you do to piss him off?" he asked and tightened the grip he had on Nick's waist. The button at the bottom of Nick's dark blue shirt was open, as usual, and Monroe found his gaze drawn to the way the fabric opened as he looped Nick's arm around his shoulders in an attempt to keep him on his feet and stop him from falling straight on his face.

"I didn't...didn't do anything," Nick insisted, his teeth clenched tightly. "I just asked him if he had anything to do with the dis...disappearance of..." The rest of his sentence was lost in the chatter of his teeth.

Monroe growled and nervously glanced over his shoulder. It was a long shot, but he didn't want the wizard to follow them to his house, not when Nick was so clearly out for the count for now.

"I see how that went over well," he grunted and hefted Nick up again. "Do me a favor, man, next time don't accuse people who are able to do real magic of crimes they probably didn't commit, okay, at least not while I'm still close enough to get hit with the same curse, okay?"

Nick's head rolled against his shoulder. "I think I don't feel my legs anymore," he said, his voice shockingly clear for a moment, before his eyes started to fall shut, his eyes having rolled up until only the white was visible anymore.

"Crap," Monroe muttered. Of all the curses that the wizard could have chosen, it had to be this one? He sighed as he picked Nick up easily and slung him over his shoulder. Thankfully they were almost home now, home where he could put Nick into the tub and then wrap him in a ton of blankets to keep him warm and wait for him to sweat out the effects of the damn curse. Thankfully, he expected it to last for only a few hours, which meant that Nick would be able to go to work the next morning and nobody would be the wiser about this.

Monroe rolled his eyes and cursed himself as he realized how much he cared about Nick and the things that were important to him, and how much it had brought chaos to his own lifestyle.

He had to call Juliette, he thought glumly, to let her know that her boyfriend would not come home tonight, that she didn't have to worry about him because Monroe would keep him firmly under control, at home, in his bedroom, and would attempt to distract him with sex as soon as the shakes had all but disappeared and Nick was back to his senses.

Juliette would understand. She was a great woman, very understanding, and even if she and Monroe had needed time to warm up to each other, telling her Nick was spending the night for some wild sex was definitely better than telling her that he had been cursed.

Cursed, by an old, almost blind wizard. Monroe was almost surprised that the curse had hit Nick in the first place, considering the poor eyesight of the wizard. He didn't know how the man had done it, but it didn't matter now, not after he'd followed Nick and had found him disoriented in the park, sweating and shaking.

"I'm cold," Nick murmured into his shoulder, and Monroe sighed and wrapped his arm around Nick's, stopping him from unbuttoning his shirt while they were still on the street.

Getting arrested for indecent exposure or kidnapping or whatever was what he still needed on this day, he thought, his mood swinging wildly between worry for Nick, whose Grimm physiology should be able to shake off the curse easily, and disgust about his own role in this drama.

If Nick had listened to him, if he'd left the wizard alone...

He shook his head and patted Nick's ass gently, doing his best to ignore the smell of his skin so close to Monroe's nose and the small hitch in his breath at the touch.

"Only you," he complained as he fished his keys out of his pocket and let them into his house.

Nick only groaned in reply, and Monroe dragged him into the bathroom and gently dumped him into the tub, not bothering with taking off Nick's clothes. He started the hot water and curled his hand around the back of Nick's neck, holding him in place with nothing more than his touch and a small warning growl.

The tub filled slowly, and only when Nick was submerged to his chest in warm water, he started to take off the Grimm's clothes, piece for sogging wet piece, piling them up on the ground. He could put his clothes in the dryer, make sure Nick could put them on again the next morning, to go to work, to return to his crazy double life of cop and Grimm.

Nick watched him with wide grey eyes. His hair was plastered to his forehead, with water or sweat, Monroe didn't know. His lips were starting to return to a natural color, and Monroe shook his head as he continued to bathe Nick and make sure he was okay.

"Seriously," he said, an hour later when he helped Nick out of the tub and wrapped him into an oversized towel, his hands rubbing briskly down Nick's back and sides to dry him, "next time a wizard tries to hit you with a freezing spell?"

"Yeah?" Nick asked and leaned into him trustingly. It was enough to make Monroe's heart clench painfully at the realization how much this young man relied on him, how much he cared for him.

He closed his arms around him and pulled him into a fierce embrace, still careful enough not to hurt Nick with his blutbad-strength.

"Next time, duck."

It's a cute new fandom, isn't it?

Good advice for Nick. Bet he won't soon forget it. :)
