01. Ring | The most important ring in Ronon's life was and had always been the Ancestor's Ring; and John Sheppard gave him seven symbols to it that would become his new home: Atlantis. |
02. Hero | John Sheppard insisted that he wasn't a hero, and Ronon found himself agreeing, but only because he knew that the heroes in Satedan tales always died a heroic, horrible death at the hands of the Wraith; and Ronon would do everything in his power to prevent John from becoming a hero. |
03. Memory | It had been ages since he'd allowed another person close enough to feel their breath against his sweatslicked skin, and the memories all had faded and were overwritten by new ones as soon as dry, slightly chapped lips touched his shoulderblade. |
04. Box | Ronon kept his most important possessions hidden away, buried on an unnamed planet, and when he returned there, he added pictures of his team and a little square he'd ripped from John's favourite t-shirt. |
05. Run | Ronon had been a runner for so long, it took him a while to understand the principle of running for the sheer joy of it again, but John was there every step on the way to cheer him on - even if he was several paces behind and fighting to get enough air into his lungs... |
06. Hurricane | Ronon watched John move along the dancing natives of Matadi, his cheeks flushed as he whirled around with them, like a hurricane, both deadly and somewhat beautiful, and he's glad for his long coat and that John usually is more reserved with alien festivities. |
07. Wings | "I always wanted to have wings when I was a kid," John said thoughtfully and craned his neck to look at Ronon who was stretched out on John's bed, and Ronon shrugged with one shoulder, careful not to dislodge him, and answered: "I always wanted to kill as many Wraith as possible, even when I was young." |
08. Cold | With Ronon's arms wrapped tightly around him, his chest pressed tightly against John's back, his breath tickling his short hair, John isn't cold anymore. |
09. Red | Ronon didn't like seeing John's blood, and John hated seeing Ronon's, but when they kneeled opposite each other, looking into their eyes and sealing the warrior's bond by mixing their blood into a red promise, they both didn't care. |
10. Drink | "I need a drink," John muttered when they returned from another planet the Wraith had culled, but Ronon knew that it wasn't a drink John wanted when he stopped by his room later. |
11. Midnight | They had a rhythm established, and, depending on who of them sneaked to the other one's room, they either met at midnight, or John left at midnight for a last check-up on security. |
12. Temptation | John knew all too well that he wasn't supposed to have these feelings at all, and that he wasn't supposed to act on them, but he just couldn't resist the temptation of Ronon Dex. |
13. View | John had been sparring with Teyla who had thrown him to the mat in an unexpected move, and he stayed there and just breathed for a moment, because when he turned his head slightly to the side, he could watch Ronon toy with the Marines, and he enjoyed the view until Ronon stepped up to him and cocked his eyebrow in an obvious challenge. |
14. Music | "What kind of music do you like?" John asked idly and turned his head towards him, and Ronon wondered how he could express that the last time he'd really enjoyed music had been when Melena had been singing at their wedding day. |
15. Silk | Ronon smiled and ran his fingers over the silky texture of the cloth he intended to buy - it was light and strong, and perfect to tie John to the headboard with... |
16. Cover | Ronon woke up in the middle of the night, shivering slightly in the cold air that was tickling his naked skin, only to realize that again, John had managed to steal the covers. |
17. Promise | There wasn't much Ronon would ever promise, simply because he knew how quickly the world could turn upside down and everything could get destroyed and end in ash and bitter tears, but he would never break a promise, and John knew that he could believe him when he said: "I'll be careful with you, I promise," and gently push into him. |
18. Dream | At first he had believed this was just another dream, but when John had kicked him in the shin and had stolen all the blankets without even waking up, and especially when he had come back to Ronon the next night, he slowly started to believe that this was real. |
19. Candle | "Satedan ritual," Ronon had simply said, and John had gone and had talked Teyla into giving him a dozen of the thick Athosian candles Ronon had light to remember all lost friends and family members, after carefully pressing all their names into the wax with his knife. |
20. Talent | "Where did you learn that?" John gasped and threaded his fingers through Ronon's hair, but Ronon had just smirked and told him, "it's a talent." |
21. Silence | They didn't need to talk, they could jsut sit there and wait for the others to rescue them, days and nights spent in silence. |
22. Journey | If life was a journey that had to be taken step by step, like the Ancestors had taught them, Ronon thought quietly, then John Sheppard definitely was a man he'd like to travel with. |
23. Fire | They were on another planet, enjoying a moment of hospitality and a harvest festival, food, drinks, dancing and laughter, but all Ronon could do all evening long was to stare, over the glow of the camp fire, at John. |
24. Strength | Ronon had more strength than John, but when John leaned over him and pressed Ronon's wrists into the mattress and gave him taht one look, the one that said 'stay', he did exactly as he was told and stayed perfectly still. |
25. Mask | They both were wearing masks, and they were both weary of ripping them off to reveal another mask underneath. |
26. Ice | "They call it the 'Ice Season'," Teyla explained with a small shrug and pulled Rodney close to her, leaving John and Ronon to cuddle up under the second fur the natives had given them. |
27. Fall | It had just been a small gesture, a mis-step, and John had fallen, head over heels, and nobody and nothing could save him, except Ronon. |
28. Forgotten | In the long years he'd been a runner, his mind had forgotten everything not needed for survival, and it took Ronon some time to figure out the right way to approach Sheppard. |
29. Dance | It was like a complicated dance, for every step forwards he had to take two backwards, but the result - John naked and panting in his bed - was worth every pain and bruised toe. |
30. Body | His mind might have forgotten what it was like to be with another man, but his body remembered it well enough. |
31. Sacred | He just vaguely remembers the sacred words of a bond forged tighter than that of a comrade in arms, but together with John he finds a new vow, even if he suspects that John doesn't really understand its importance. |
32. Farewells | Giving in and kissing John for the first time was the final farewell to Melena. |
33. World | Their lives didn't change much; and there were only a handful of worlds they both considered safe enough to let their guard down enough to agree to put the weapons next to the bed, and not into it. |
34. Formal | "On Sateda," Ronon explains with a grin, "you would have to introduce me formally to your parents, and get their approval for marriage..." - "...but only if I'm the woman," John interrupts, proving that he's listening to what Ronon told him before, and when John's eyes narrow in sudden realization, Ronon's grin only gets wider. |
35. Fever | "It's just a fever," John repeats slowly, his eyes too bright and his skin flushed, and the only thing Ronon can think of doing is picking him up and carrying him back to the infirmary. |
36. Laugh | "Laugh, I nearly died," John mutters, and Ronon knows it's a line from a traditional song from Major Lorne's home, but he still doesn't understand why it's so funny to almost die. |
37. Lies | "I'm fine," Ronon grunts, and John nods, even if they both know it's a lie. |
38. Forever | It had taken Ronon forever to figure out all those little signs, but when he did, he laughed out loud, scaring Rodney in the process, and continued to watch Sheppard from the corner of his eye. |
39. Overwhelmed | The first time Ronon Dex had followed John Sheppard through the Stargate, it also had been the first time he set foot in the City of the Ancestors, and the thought alone was enough to overwhelm him. |
40. Whisper | "Now," Ronon whispered, and John didn't hesitate. |
41. Wait | Ronon had waited for Shepaprd to make the first move, had waited and learned, and the more he found out about Sheppard's cultural background, the more confused he'd got, but he never stopped waiting for a sign. |
42. Talk | The problem was, John thought darkly, that both he and Ronon weren't great at the talking thing, but they had to figure out a way to talk things out to keep it a secret - and John wasn't even sure what this 'thing' between them was... |
43. Search | John never left a man behind, they all knew that, and Ronon didn't need to worry, because they would never stop the search until they found Teyla and McKay. |
44. Hope | "I hope you know what you're doing," Rodney told them, but neither Ronon nor John really did. |
45. Eclipse | Ronon didn't really care what an eclipse was or why they needed to watch it, but he enjoyed it as long as John was sitting really close to him. |
46. Gravity | "No gravity - look, I can fly," John said, and Ronon casually reached out to pluck him out of the sky and kept him grounded. |
47. Highway | When Ronon asked what a highway was, John thought for a moment before promising to take him to Earth on their next trip to show him. |
48. Unknown | They both didn't know what the future held for them, but it didn't stop them from continuing what they were doing: exploring the Pegasus-Galaxy, pissing off the Genii, fucking each other, fighting the Wraith, and waiting for the unknown to reveal itself in its own time. |
49. Lock | "You okay?" John briefly asked, but he didn't wait for an answer before opening the lock of the cage and freeing Ronon. |
50. Breathe | "Breathe," Ronon growled, his own breath coming in short gasps against the shell of John's ear, his hands moving restlessly over John's body, over soft skin and rough hair, sharp bones and hard muscles, and when John finally did, taking in huge gulps of air between his coughing and spluttering, Ronon chose to ignore Sheppard's stupid rules and hugged him tightly, not caring for McKay or Lorne watching them with worried, pale faces, and caring even less about John's and his own wet clothes or the dangers waiting beyond the wild river next to them. |
