"What's that smell?" Danny asked as he walked in and dropped his keys on the counter in the kitchen.
"You, I assume," Sheldon answered and calmly turned the page of his paper. He didn’t mind the lack of a proper greeting or the sudden question, but then, he knew Danny pretty well by now. "You're the one walking in here after a run, after all."
"Haha, very funny, doc." Danny pulled a bottle of water from the fridge. "Something smells...odd."
"Odd."
Hawkes turned another page and started reading. However, after a few lines, he looked up to find Danny staring at him expectantly.
"Odd as in...fruit-flavored odd?" he asked and reached for his cup.
"Yeah," Danny nodded and sniffed again. "What is that?"
"Vitamins."
"What?" Danny reached up and scratched his ear. "I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch that last one."
"Yes, you did," Sheldon answered with a small smile. "I know you did. It's the vitamins."
"Okay, maybe I heard you right, but that doesn't mean I understood you," Danny grinned. He finished his water and stepped up to Sheldon, leaning over him to steal a piece of toast from the plate Sheldon had put on the table, almost out of reach, next to the spread-out paper.
"Well, what makes you think I understand it?" Sheldon asked and ran a hand up the back of Danny's leg. "And why aren't you making your own breakfast?"
"Because you love me and I repay you," Danny calmly answered. "And because you understand everything. Even physics."
"That's not that hard," Sheldon absent-mindedly answered. His hand had reached the waistband of Danny's pants, and he brushed his fingertips gently underneath it, over Danny's sweaty, warm skin. "This, on the other hand?"
He shook his head. "The human mind never gets boring."
"Aha." Danny made an agreeing noise around his bite of toast. "So which human mind came up with this…thing?"
"The answer to that one should be kind of obvious, Detective," Sheldon grinned and traced a line over Danny's ass with his fingertips. "If it's not me and it's not you, who could it be?"
"Donnie," Danny grinned. "What did he tell you?"
He twisted around to look at Sheldon with a raised eyebrow without actually moving away from Sheldon's hand that now was tracing random patterns on his ass and the back of his thighs.
"Obviously, it's the vitamins in his shampoo that smell so strongly. Strengthens the hair from the root to the tip, gives it all it needs...you know Don," Sheldon explained with a small shrug and a grin. "He takes this very seriously."
"Yeahyeah." Danny pushed his glasses up his nose. "Did you tell him that it's not the vitamins?"
"I started to." Sheldon nodded. "But then he was called away to a scene and had to leave rather abruptly."
Danny sighed and let his shoulders slump a bit. "Too bad, I thought I had you two for the whole day today."
"If you don't take a shower soon, you're going to be alone all day long," Sheldon dryly pointed out, without commenting on Danny’s words. He’d quickly understood that Danny would only get embarrassed and defensive if he did. "You smell."
"Not as bad as Don's shampoo," Danny shot back, but he straightened and pushed the last bite of the toast in his mouth. "I'm going, I'm going, and I'm even doing it quietly," he managed to get out, misinterpreting Sheldon's dark look as the other man chastising him for making fun of their third when Sheldon really just glared because Danny had managed to steal his breakfast without even asking or hesitating to take it.
"That I want to see," Sheldon muttered and returned the focus of his attention back to his paper.
After a moment, he looked back up. "I thought you wanted to take a shower," he noticed. "The smell too much for you?"
"Actually..." Danny shifted from one foot to the other. "I was kinda hoping that you'd get the clue and feel invited to join me."
He grinned. "Gotta repay you for that breakfast, after all."
And with these words, he left the kitchen.
Sheldon smiled and picked up his coffee cup. Maybe he'd been overreacting, but, on the other hand, he would never say No to this kind of payment. And if it meant that he had to fix breakfast for Danny, it was worth the trouble. And since Danny had just stopped on his way to the bathroom to investigate the smell of vitamins when he'd spotted Sheldon's breakfast, Sheldon was sure that he would buy Don another bottle of the same shampoo once this one was gone. He made a mental note about it, making sure to remember the vitamins.
Taking one last mouthful of coffee, he placed the cup in the sink and slowly made his way to the bathroom, following the soft off-key humming he could hear and the noises Danny made while preparing to take a shower.
This was going to be fun, he thought while watching Danny strip off his pants.
He'd always known vitamins were good for him...
End.
