Title: The Haircut
Author: Kathie
Rating: FRT
Disclaimer: These characters are not mine.
Summary: A possible explanation of Flack's new, season 2, haircut.
Just a very, very short story.
Pairing: Mac/Danny/Don (CSI:NY)
Author's Note: After seeing the first episode of season two, this came to my mind. Takes place after season one, but before season two.
**
Darkness.
Suddenly there's a yelp and a shuffle, and the blankets are pulled away.
Mac wakes up from his light sleep with a start and sits up. He reaches over to the bedside lamp and switches it on. Soft warm light fills the bedroom.
Tonight Don ended up sleeping in the middle. Right now, however, he is sitting up and rubbing his head. His dark hair is tousled and sticking up at strange angles.
Danny frowns at him from the far side of the bed. He blinks in the light and lifts a hand to protect his eyes.
Mac asks: "What's wrong?"
Danny shakes his head. "Nothing's wrong," he says and yawns.
"Hey!" Don glares at him. "You pulled my hair!"
"What are you, five?" Danny asks him. "Besides, I was sleeping!"
"You had your hand wrapped in my hair!"
Don turns towards Mac. "Mac..."
Mac chuckles. "He pulled your hair?"
Don pouts now. "Yes."
Danny snorts. "It's getting a bit long, Don. Maybe you should think about a haircut."
Don grunts something and snuggles close to Mac.
Thankfully he brings the blankets with him - Mac is getting cold in his thin t-shirt and boxers.
Mac waits until the two of them have settled down again before switching off the lights.
***
Mac and Danny are at a crime scene, and Danny just tells Mac about the blood splatter he found when suddenly he stops mid-sentence and blinks.
"Danny?" Mac asks, but he doesn't turn around - he's focused on the evidence, the blood in front of him.
"Damn," Danny breathes and pushes his glasses up his nose. "That's hot."
Mac frowns. They have strict rules about not talking about their relationship at work, and both Don and Danny accepted those rules when they talked about it. But now Danny all but drools.
Mac turns around to see what has caused this behaviour, and he understands, and all thoughts about rules and blood are forgotten for a minute when he sees, walking towards them, his pen and notebook in his hands, Don, with a new haircut.
